National Projects Enter Critical Phase as Government Targets Year-End Milestones
Kathmandu — Nepal’s construction sector advanced steadily today as national agencies pushed contractors to accelerate progress before the year-end reporting period. Major roadway, hydropower, housing, and urban-infrastructure projects across the country reported new updates, signaling a strong winter work cycle.
Highway Projects Receive Fresh Momentum
The Department of Roads intensified monitoring on several major national highways today. Field teams were deployed to review work in progress across:
- Mugling–Pokhara Highway, where slope-stabilization and blacktopping works were carried out in multiple sections.
- Hetauda–Kathmandu Tunnel Road access points, where excavation support crews continued drilling and lining works.
- Koshi Corridor feeder roads, which entered a new phase of gravel surfacing after delays due to equipment shortages.
Officials confirmed that new performance evaluations will determine contractor bonuses or penalties based on monthly progress.
Kathmandu Valley Urban Works Continue Actively
In the capital, urban-infrastructure upgrades remained in full swing:
- Road resurfacing progressed in New Baneshwor and Baluwatar under late-night schedules.
- Sewer-line installation by KUKL advanced in Lazimpat, with lane closures coordinated to reduce congestion.
- Bagmati River Cleanup Initiative continued sediment removal and riverbank protection along the Thapathali–Teku stretch.
The Valley Development Authority emphasized that these upgrades are part of the push to prepare city infrastructure for next year’s peak tourist season.
